Sunbelt also at that time introduced the use of EB-5 funding for the BHS-Princeton Baptist Hospital Expansion of $57.6 million. BHS had secured a Certificate of Need (CON) through the State of Alabama State Health Planning and Development Board approving the Princeton Expansion Project Capital Expenditure and had concluded that the Project was consistent with the State Health Plan, was financially feasible, an there was a substantially unmet community need for the Project.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>After learning the benefits of using EB-5 investor funding for the $57.6 million Princeton Expansion Project, the BHS CEO requested that Sunbelt meet with the BHS financial leadership and we began those meetings in October, 2010. BHS immediately had interest in the EB-5 program and Sunbelt\u2019s proposal to bring 50 EB-5 investors and $25 million of funding for the Princeton Expansion Project. Sunbelt offered an investment vehicle of a five year loan of $25 million which was accepted in November 2010 awaiting final approval of Sunbelt\u2019s USCIS designation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 fusion-one-half fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:50%;width:calc(50% - ( ( 4% ) * 0.5 ) );\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\">\n<div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:18;--minFontSize:18;line-height:1.5;\">Overview by BHS CEO of the BHS-Princeton Healthcare Project &amp; Community Effect<\/h2><span class=\"awb-title-spacer\"><\/span><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-double sep-solid\" style=\"border-color:#e0dede;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Shane Spees, the BHS Chief Executive Officer states that the Princeton Baptist $57.6 million expansion project is the first major construction on Princeton&#8217;s main campus in more than 15 years, and hospital and city leaders say the addition and accompanying renovations will create a new gateway to the surrounding community. &#8220;It&#8217;ll put a whole new face on the west part of Birmingham,&#8221; said Shane Spees, President and CEO of Baptist Health System. &#8220;The real benefits are there in that local community: jobs, the local economy, local restaurants and retailers.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Upon completion of the expansion in July 2013 and operation of the project, it is estimated that the project will create a significant amount of new jobs within the community.The completed project will also be critical in recruiting new physicians to the hospital, which is already planning to bring a new neurosurgeon and two cardiologists on board and is seeking neurologists as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Spees said he hoped the Princeton Project would help allay fears of some in the community that the hospital planned to leave west Birmingham, fears that arose two years ago when Baptist applied to build a hospital in Hoover. &#8220;We&#8217;re not going anywhere,&#8221; he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-2 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last fusion-column-no-min-height\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-margin-bottom:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:20px;margin-bottom:20px;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-none, sep-single, sep-double, sep-dashed, sep-dotted, sep-shadow\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;border-color:#e0dede;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-3 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 fusion-one-half fusion-column-first\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:50%;width:calc(50% - ( ( 4% ) * 0.5 ) );margin-right: 4%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\">\n<div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:18;--minFontSize:18;line-height:1.5;\">Project Description of Expansion<\/h2><span class=\"awb-title-spacer\"><\/span><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-double sep-solid\" style=\"border-color:#e0dede;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The project includes a new 90,000 square foot expansion of the West end of the hospital. The new space will replace six endoscopy rooms and 16 operation theaters built between the 1940s and 1966.
